Baloon Sky operates on a real-time physics simulation where your balloon responds authentically to atmospheric conditions. Wind currents change direction and intensity based on altitude zones, requiring constant adjustment of your ascent and descent controls. The thermal updraft system creates vertical acceleration zones that propel you upward when positioned correctly, while downdrafts pull you toward ground hazards.
The star collection mechanic rewards precision navigation through narrow wind corridors. Each star increases your altitude ceiling by 50 meters and adds 10 seconds to your flight timer. Weather transitions occur dynamically every 90 seconds, cycling between clear skies, crosswinds, and storm conditions that introduce lightning strikes as avoidance obstacles.
Your balloon has three integrity states indicated by color shifts from vibrant red to pale pink. Collision with obstacles or lightning reduces integrity by one level. At zero integrity, the balloon deflates and your run ends. The scoring multiplier increases by 0.5x for every consecutive star collected without taking damage, capping at 5x for expert pilots who maintain perfect flights.
